Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Monday received Zhang Qingwei, the governor of China's Hebei province, conveying the satisfaction of the top officials and all the people of Serbia with the visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"The president and I agreed to exchange visits at least once a year," the Serbian president noted.
Nikolic particularly thanked Xi "for pledging to personally take care of enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries," said a statement from Nikolic's presidential press office.
A major step forward has been made in economic relations, particularly considering the willingness of the Chinese side to fully revive the Smederevo steel mill, Nikolic said.
"Serbia will point out interesting projects to the Chinese side and we expect China to invest in production more strongly," Nikolic said.
Serbia has a major potential for investments in the defence industry, particularly considering the cooperation with the Military Technical Institute, he said.
China is ready to establish a centre for the mechanism between China and central and eastern European countries and build an industrial park in Smederevo, since boosting employment in Serbia is one of the priority objectives of the Chinese president, Zhang said.
The Chinese side is also prepared to acquire the bankrupt soft drink producer Budimka and boost student exchange between the two countries, Zhang said.
